GMU Delegation at the 16th INTERIZON DAY 2026 Conference
On 24 September 2026, Professor Tomasz Tarasiuk, Deputy Rector for Enterprise and External Engagement, and Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba, Director of the Technology Transfer Office, took part in the 16th INTERIZON DAY 2026 conference.
This year’s event focused on dual-use technologies as well as building technological security and resilience. In addition to INTERIZON Success Stories, which outlined examples of cooperation, new partnerships, and solutions jointly developed by companies within the Cluste, the programme featured addresses by representatives of the defence and armaments sector. The development of dual-use technologies was presented by representatives of the Ministry of National Defence and the defence industry, alongside innovators developing dual-use technologies. New opportunities for developing, testing, and deploying dual-use technologies in Poland were highlighted within the framework of the NATO DIANA Living Lab. The main theme of the event was broadly defined technological resilience, a practical approach to technology and business readiness, secure dual-use technology transfer, exports, and risk management. The presentations recurringly placed emphasis on the security and resilience of developing solutions, technological dependencies, and risks associated with components used in dual-use technologies.
Discussions during the event also addressed competency-building for a resilient economy and opportunities to secure funding for the development of innovative technologies, including through mechanisms such as PALLAS, the Export Broker and SPEKTRUM. Experts from the Pomerania Development Agency (ARP) and the Marshal’s Office addressed regional needs, civil preparedness, and the importance of defence and dual-use technologies. Broad discussions highlighted the region’s capacities and resources, as well as instruments and initiatives supporting Pomeranian enterprises aiming to bring new products, services, and technologies to market for this currently pivotal sector.
The event provided an opportunity for discussions with experts and companies across the defence, ICT, and cybersecurity sectors, enabling the exchange of experience and the identification of partners for new projects and joint initiatives. Mapping research and technological potential, assessing mutual science-industry requirements, and establishing an environment conducive to generating innovation and bringing it to market – including dual-use solutions – represent one of the key areas of activity undertaken by the GMU Technology Transfer Office under the Science4Business – Nauka Dla Biznesu project. The contacts established during the event create prospects for forging new partnerships and strengthening science-industry cooperation, thereby enhancing the efficiency of commercialising R&D results, including technological solutions currently within the University’s portfolio and those advanced through pre-implementation work under the Science4Business – Nauka dla Biznesu project. Insights and defence-sector requirements identified during the conference may contribute to the development of new functionalities within technologies and products developed at GMU.
The event partners were: Agencja Rozwoju Pomorza S.A. (Pomerania Development Agency), Pomorski Broker Eksportowy 2030 (Pomeranian Export Broker 2030), and the Pomeranian Voivodeship Local Government.
