GMU Delegation Attends the KOMPOZYT-EXPO International Trade Fair
On 7–8 October 2026, Krakow hosted the 14th International Trade Fair for Composite Materials, Technologies and Products KOMPOZYT-EXPO, in which Gdynia Maritime University participated as an exhibitor presenting solutions developed as part of R&D work under the Science4Business project. The University was represented at the event by researchers from the Faculty of Marine Engineering: Dr Katarzyna Panasiuk, Dr Daria Żuk, and Agata Wieczorska, as well as innovation brokers from the Technology Transfer Office: Dr Katarzyna Przybylska and Marlena Żur-Lewandowska.
At the exhibition stand, the GMU representatives promoted the University's offer of scientific research and technological cooperation addressed to enterprises, companies, and socio-economic environment institutions. They established contacts and held talks to initiate research and industrial ventures, as well as to highlight opportunities for providing specialist research services, conducting expert opinions and analyses, and making use of the University's laboratory and research equipment facilities. A key area in promoting the University's technology portfolio was solutions protected by intellectual property rights across various technology readiness levels, tailored to the needs of interested buyers. Cooperation between GMU academia and industrial sector enterprises can contribute to the development of technologies that address the current market needs.
The presence of the GMU Technology Transfer Office and researchers from the Faculty of Marine Engineering at KOMPOZYT-EXPO Krakow 2026 aligns with the ‘Marketing of technological and research services offer’ activities under the Science4Business project, in which GMU acts as the lead partner. Direct contact with representatives of key technological partners in the composite materials industry from across the world creates opportunities to identify market trends, improve existing solutions in the GMU portfolio, seek partners for joint ventures, and enhance the practical application of knowledge and technologies created at the University. For the inventors of the eco-innovative composite materials developed as part of R&D projects UMG/IR/5/2025, UMG/IR/6/2025, and UMG/IR/12/2025 under the Science4Business project, this was an important initiative to disseminate their achievements, thereby increasing the prospects of commercialising the results of ongoing research.
The event brought together over 120 exhibitors, including companies and institutions covering the complete value chain in the advanced materials sector, ranging from manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials (such as glass, carbon, and natural fibres, resins, adhesives, epoxy resins, polyurethane systems, and fillers), through suppliers of professional machinery, tools, tooling, and industrial automation, to research institutes, laboratories, and higher education institutions. An important part of the event was the 3D printing and additive manufacturing area and national pavilions featuring foreign companies from Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Asia, including South Korea. Polish companies were also represented in this area, including members of the Polish Composite Technology Cluster. The technologies presented by exhibitors find applications across numerous sectors, such as aviation, automotive, wind energy, yacht building, construction, rail, and the defence sector, understood also as dual-use technologies. This year's exhibition was held concurrently with the debut edition of the DRONE SECURITY EXPO fair, which certainly contributed to higher attendance in the halls of EXPO Krakow and enabled the innovation brokers to gain broader insight into the expectations of the sector involved in the production and application of modern composite materials, including the dual-use segment. Participation in the fair confirms GMU's active commitment to transferring knowledge and technology to the economy and supporting innovations that have a tangible impact on the development of modern industry, ecology, and the environment.
