The 10th Metrology Congress was held in Jastarnia from 25 to 27 May 2026. Held every three years, the Congress is organised by the Committee on Metrology and Scientific Instrumentation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in partnership with one of Poland’s technical universities. Gdynia Maritime University served as the co-organiser for this tenth edition. The event attracted approximately 120 participants from across Poland, including researchers and representatives from industry, state institutions, and the military, representing 26 institutions across 15 Polish academic centres.

The 10th Metrology Congress took place under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit; the Chair of the Committee on Metrology and Scientific Instrumentation of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Professor Andrzej Zając; and the Mayor of Gdynia, Aleksandra Kosiorek. The Organising Committee comprised staff from the GMU Department of Power Electronics: Professor Krzysztof Górecki, Associate Professor Dr Kalina Detka, Associate Professor Dr Paweł Górecki, Associate Professor Dr Przemysław Ptak, Dr Magdalena Budnarowska, Dr Ewa Krac, Dr Krzysztof Posobkiewicz, Łukasz Łatwis, Magdalena Rowińska, Andrzej Urbanowicz, and Aleksander Data.

Funding for the Congress was provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education under the ‘Vectors of Science’ programme. This financial support covered the publication costs of post-conference papers as well as the attendance costs of invited speakers.

The Congress aims to present scientific achievements in the broad field of metrology, while providing a forum to establish and strengthen links between representatives of Polish centres conducting research in the field. During the Congress, three invited lectures, four plenary lectures, and 85 session papers were presented across 18 sessions. The presentations addressed topics including measurement methods, measuring instruments, measurement uncertainty, and metrology services. All papers submitted to the Congress were peer-reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee and other participating professors, and were accepted for publication in journals including Metrology and Measurement Systems, International Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications, Przegląd Elektrotechniczny, Pomiary, Automatyka, Robotyka PAR, Scientific Journal of Gdynia Maritime University, and Elektronika.

The programme featured three invited lectures:

  • Professor Adam Weintrit, Master Mariner (Gdynia Maritime University) – ‘Maritime Units of Measurement: Past and Present’;
  • Professor Ryszard Szplet (the Jarosław Dąbrowski Military University of Technology) – ‘Global Time Transfer’;
  • Dr Agnieszka Wolska (Associate Professor, Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute) – ‘The Multidimensional Impact of Optical Radiation on Humans in the Working Environment: Selected Metrological Problems’.

A competition for the best paper by a young researcher was also held during the Congress. Following the evaluation procedure, commendations were awarded to four researchers:

  • Urania Mikulska (AGH University of Krakow);
  • Ahmad F. K. Khamaysa (Warsaw University of Technology);
  • Jakub Miszczyński (AGH University of Krakow);
  • Michał Downar-Zapolski (Gdynia Maritime University).

During the Congress, AM Technologies also presented an exhibition of measuring equipment. Following the conclusion of the sessions, participants took part in a boat trip and a visit to the Museum of Coastal Defence.
